Bruce Springsteen : We Shall Overcome : The Pete Seeger Sessions

For many years I've played American folk songs with a band - we'd perform them every second Friday at the pub while drinking pints. Although most of the pub patrons are too young to have heard Pete Seeger recordings, let alone see him perform live, they always go down well.

When I heard about Bruce Springsteen covering a whole lot of Pete Seegers songs I was a bit dubious, but after listening to a few tracks, then buying the album, I was pleasantly surprised.

Springsteen has lined up a host of great musicians and together they cover some great classics like John Henry, Pay Me My Money Down and We Shall Overcome.

These songs are a great introduction to the genre if you're not familiar with American folk songs and an important addition to the library of anyone who knows the music.
