Chinese Music Archive

This site has a great collection of traditional Chinese music (though it's in .au format not MP3 so you'll probably need to play it through Quicktime).

Heaps of examples of traditional Chinese folk tunes including Two Fountains Reflecting Moon, Red Army Arrived at ShaanBei and Revitalization Joss Stick.

Worth checking out as a good introduction to Chinese music.

Deborah Koh's MP3 Page of Chinese Folk Music

Deborah is from Singapore and has studied both Piano and the traditional Chinese Instrument, the Erhu which is a 2-stringed Violin and played in a Chinese Orchestra for many years.

The site contains a mixture of pieces for solo Erhu and Chamber Orchestra pieces which contain instruments such as Guzheng, Pipa and Yangqin.

You can also find music from many other traditions such as Persia, India and Gospel music at the main site.

Jody and Kimo mix Japanese Koto with Sitar and Indoneasian Suling with Tabla's to create "divine inspirational themes" through music.Their music aims to celebrate cultural diversity and bring reconcilliation between different groups of people.

Although there are no full-length MP3's to download, there are numerous samples of each instrument they play such as the Ohe hano ihu (Hawaiian nose flute), Sitar and Korng Thomm (Cambodian Gongs).
