Alistair Hulett and Jimmy Gregory : Among Proddy Dogs And Papes

One of my favorite bands used to be Roaring Jack which was fronted by Alistair Hulett. They were sort of like The Pogues, but the songs were mostly political comments about Scotland or Australia like Yuppie Town which was about the rich people moving in and kicking out everyone else from a working-class suburb.

Roaring Jack broke up and Alistair formed a duet with Jimmy Gregory doing accoustic version of the songs. They're quite different to the frenetic versions, but still pretty great.

This particular video, Among Proddy Dogs And Papes is all about the English driving the Scots from their homeland:

"I was taught in school how Britannia’s rule
Was forced on the Scots of old
Bought and sold by a parcel of rogues
For a handful of English gold"
