Unfortunately
the sound on this clip isn't very good, but it's a great example
of traditional Moldavian music being played at Csango Bal in Budapest
- the Csangos being a Catholic minority.
Moldavia is a region of Romania, but the musical style is somewhat
different to that of Romania - though you will find some tunes have
crossed the borders - as with many European cultures.
This particular clip features Ioan Antim who is one of the last
living Moldavian Kobza players - the Kobza is like a lute which
has it's origins in Ukranian music from the 11th century onwards.
