Zywiolak : Nowa Tradycja

I discovered Zywiolak last week on a new music service called Jamendo. They're a Polish "folkmetal" or "heavy folk" group featuring Hurdy Gurdy, Bass Guitar, Percussion and Vocals.

Musically they remind me a lot of Garmarna (Swedish) or Hedingarna (Finnish) who are are both bands I really enjoy the sound of. There's even reminiscences of another Finnish band Värttinä thrown in with the vocals.

Maybe it's the Hurdy Gurdy (call me crazy) or the drones, but there's something mesmerising about this sort of music.

They describe themselves as a mixture of Celtic and Slavic music and are apparently rocking up the Polish folk music scene.
